Ashley Wong
Fremont, CA, USA

My name is Ashley Wong. I have been in the culinary industry for 16 years. My first pastry job was at a Michelin star restaurant The Madera at the Sandhill Rosewood Hotel in Menlo Park where I trained under Olympic pastry chef Mellisa Root. After working in the restaurant doing intricate plated desserts, I decided to work in corporate at Oracle in redwood Shores. There I was in charge of the conference center with only 1 other baker putting out 600+ desserts a day. There I would plan, prep, and execute daily with a seasonal rotating menu. After a few years in the Conference Center, I switched over to the bakery where I learned how to make breads, and started decorating cakes. I spent 4 years at Oracle before deciding to quit and go out for myself. Once I started Ashley Wong Sweets, I started doing desserts for Microsoft, Facebook and occasionally Apple. Since then, my business has grown being a part of weddings, birthdays, baby showers, and all special occasions. During the pandemic, I realized people weren't able to celebrate the way they wanted to and that's when I came up with the idea of doing cinnamon rolls, fresh baked cookies, loaf cakes and cake pops to bring people comfort and remind them that our sweets are here for them. In October of 2021, I had the pleasure of competing on Food Network's Halloween Baking Championship almost making it to the end. Even though I didn't win, it was an amazing opportunity to showcase my baking skills.
