Loving your family using the 5 love languages will strengthen communication, love, and understanding. In 2011, I decided to leave the military because, on my last deployment, I couldn&#39;t answer the question asked by the caregiver caring for my daughter while I was away-- &quot;What is your daughter&#39;s favorite food?&quot;. I knew then that I had to get out if I was going to have a better connection with my daughter than my mom had with me. When I left the military, I did everything with her, such as taking her to the zoo, joining the PTA, walking her to school, and feeding her good food. On May 24, 2013, after an interview for a job I was sure I had in the bag, I got a phone call from my daughter&#39;s school saying that my daughter said she wanted to harm herself. My daughter also expressed that she felt I loved her brother more than her. I couldn&#39;t quite understand why she felt that way when I left the military for HER. After taking parenting classes and discovering the 5 Love Languages, I realized I didn&#39;t love her in the way that her heart best-received love. I was focused on giving her things and spending quality time, and she craved hugs. Learning about the 5 Love Languages helped me understand how to love her better. Over the last decade, I&#39;ve loved my family through the 5 love languages, and seeing them respond positively keeps me going and inspired me to write the 90-day guide!

Growing in Love Together

After leaving her military career she jumped in to reconnect with her daughter.
