Hi everyone! I'm Diane, the creator of GUTS. I'm really excited to invite you into this community of student athletes, parents and coaches who are all ready to create a healthier happier experience for athletes in youth sport.
I'm a teacher and coach at heart. I've been an athlete all my life and I'm super passionate about natural nutrition and educating young athletes about the power food holds to help them crush their goals in sport and life.
I live with my husband and two kids in High River, Alberta. What I really live for is spending time with them in the mountains and forests nearby and hanging out in our garden, where my husband and I are building our own little organic urban homestead.
After years working as a coach and program administrator in the youth sport arena, I noticed that young athletes weren't thriving the way that I expected they should. Sport is supposed to be good for us, right?! Well, the fact of the matter is that when young athletes who are growing fast and pushing their bodies hard daily don't know how or what to eat, it makes sense that they AREN'T thriving.
It doesn't have to be this way!
I'm on a mission to change the nutrition culture in youth sport by helping student athletes understand how food works and how and what to eat to support their health and performance in sport and life.
