5 WAYS TO IMPROVE YOURSELF

This is a short article which I’ve wanted to write for a while. I’ve personally been on quite the journey of personal development and discovery the last few years.

I thought I’d share some of the things that helped and got me started on a path that has changed my life for the better.

READING

Books and reading material have been around for a long time, a long long time. Books have given us a source of inspiration and knowledge with every page turn. I always said that I never had the time to read but it turns out I was just disorganised ( more on that later ).

I was then told about a neat little trick to get me started.

READ 10 PAGES OF A BOOK EACH DAY!

By using this very simple method you can read pretty much anything, An Average book is around 300 - 400 pages long.

Reading 10 pages per day means you will finish a 300 page book in 30 days

Reading 10 pages per day means you will finish a 400 page book in 40 days

In a year you can read 9-12 books. If you don’t have a book. You can ask a friend or family member to borrow one. Heck email me and I'll send you one of mine! if needs be but I think all you guys can find a way of getting your hands on a book.

You can learn almost anything from a book. It all starts with turning the first page. Give this one a try.

FITNESS

A shark dies if it stops moving. It’s not quite the same for us humans. Lack of exercise and fitness can lead to increased heart disease, obesity, lack of energy and a whole bunch of other stuff. How can you get fitter for free? Get out and walk.

Walking for 30 minutes each day or ensuring you walk 10,000 steps can improve your overall fitness.

You can also carry out a plank challenge. Just a 60-second plank each day for 30 days can make a significant difference to your physical fitness.

GET UP 30 MINUTES EARLIER

This is one that I’ve always struggled with, my biggest vice. That lye in. I have such a love-hate relationship with the snooze button but I’m determined to make this one work for me.

Think about it, if I get up 30 minutes earlier for 5 days per week, you can gain almost 2.5 hours of time per week or 10 hours per month. Wow, I’ve just invented the time machine!

When I look at the logic and maths behind this, it’s kind of a no-brainer.

What will you do with your new time that you've just carved out. Spend more time with the family? Read more? take up a new hobby. You decided.

TURN OFF YOUR NOTIFICATIONS

The idea of this is that we try to keep our focus on the task at hand and that the little boxes that pop up don’t take away our attention. Most of us have multiple devices telling us where to be and trying their hardest to pull us out from a work flow. It's time to stop!

Our lives can seem that we are ruled by these devices but they don’t have to be. We have the power to turn them off. Go into your settings and toggle that switch and get your focus back.

If that doesn’t quite motivate you, use the do not disturb function. If you can aim to use this function for at least 1 - 2 hours each day, your productivity will go through the roof. Take back your time and free your mind.

FIND SOME HELP

Now you might think this is a shameless act of self-promotion but hear me out before you judge me.

Think about though, is it smart to find someone to help you who has had the experience which you need? The answer to that is yes. Why struggle to do things on your own if you can get the guidance which you need. A lot of mentors will offer their services for free, offer support for equity in your business, or even cash if needs be. One thing that is really important to note is that 99% of mentors will offer some form of a free consultation or talk first of all. The majority of the time you will learn something from each of these conversations. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Most will be willing to give it.
