The Writer's Job Newsletter #58

The Writer's Job Newsletter
The Writer's Job NewsletterPublished on March 13, 2022

Hey everyone! Happy Sunday!

I came across this hilarious thread on Reddit today and it’s definitely worth it being the focal point of this weeks intro. It covers the worst aspects of being a Freelance Writer and boy, can we relate! We've gone through the list - and we definitely agree with the top 5!!

1: That Period between when you start learning and when you start making a full-time income. That period in between is really a stretch of anxiety!
2: Wasting entire days because you have the freedom to, but lack the self discipline not to!!
3: Not being able to scale, and never being able to make money when you’re not working
4: No paid vacation time or sick leave. No healthcare!
5: Little recourse if someone refuses to pay as it’s so expensive and time-consuming to pursue legal action

After reading these, I don't know if you can call yourself a writer if you've not felt the pain of all 5! Being a freelance writer is difficult and we've definitely felt our fair share of pain, but I guess that's part of the career path - having enough cuts and bruises to be able to tell a story at the end, but those months without much work can feel a bit bumpy...to say the least!

As always, loads of jobs and opportunities below. Tell your family and friends about us, and we'll love you forever <3
